There are many ‘heads of losses’ that can be claimed as a result of an accident. The bulk of compensation is the claim for the actual injury suffered itself.
This will be personal to the individual person as all accidents are different. This will depend on the area of the body they have injured, the severity of the injury and how long they are injured for.
The more severe an injury, the higher the award of personal injury compensation will be. This will cover the pain, suffering and loss of amenity (loss of enjoyment of life)
A simple broken rib for example could attract an award of up to £3950, a below the knee amputation could attract an award of up to £137,470. A person who suffers a serious psychological reaction following a crash could recover up to £100,670 (post-traumatic stress disorder). For reference, each and every injury is given an injury tariff by the Judicial College Guidelines.

We will break this down into two sections:
We will have to determine who’s fault the accident was. Most common scenarios are:-
- Drivers turning right in front of a road/motor bike or a bike rider coming towards it,
- Motorists hitting a road/motor bike or a bike rider when changing lanes or overtaking, often resulting in ‘side-swiping’
- Car doors being opened in front of road/motor bikes and bike riders as they approach,
- Drivers hitting road/motor bikes and bike riders when turning left where they are on the inside.
After discussing the accident circumstances with you and we determine that the accident was not your fault, you will have a good case.
